At Liberty, we take the wellbeing and safety of our customers very seriously and are committed to ensuring you, and our staff, are kept safe whilst works take place in your home.
As RoSPA Gold Award winners you can be confident in our commitment to health and safety excellence.
When one of our team arrives at your home, they will confirm the type of work that they will be carrying out and ensure that you are fully aware of any hazards that may be created, and the control measures that we will put in place to ensure everyone’s safety whilst the works take place.
The hazards are different from job to job, but some common examples of hazards include:
Floorboards being lifted within work areas
Tools and equipment being stored within work areas
There may be more than one worker in your home
Our operatives may be working on your roof
The operatives may require access to your loft
Ladders or scaffolding may be in use outside your home
We may set up an area for temporarily storing waste
Signs and barriers may be put up inside and outside of your home
Setting up a ‘Safe Zone’
To keep you safe, we will ask you to remain in a separate room of your home away from where our operatives are working – we refer to this as a ‘Safe Zone’.
- A safe zone will protect you from any potential hazards created as the work progresses.
- A safe zone will be controlled by barriers and signage to prevent accidental access to the work area.
- We will ensure that you have anything you need from the work area before we start work, you should not need to return to this area of your home until the work is completed.
- Anything beyond the safe zone or anywhere else that barriers and signs are placed is a work area and will not be safe for you to enter. If you need to access these areas for any reason during the works, you should contact one of the operatives first so that they can ensure the area is safe before you enter.
How does the ‘Safe Zone’ work?
Our operative will ensure that any specific needs you may have are discussed and that you are comfortable within the safe zone agreed and aware of the potential hazards during the work.
You will have access to the toilet and beverage making facilities within your home and if you need anything from another area in your home, speak to the operative who will make sure it is safe for you to leave the ‘Safe Zone’.
The ‘Safe Zone’ will only be removed once works are complete, and we have made the area safe,. We’ll let you know when this is done.
