Liberty lends a helping hand to The Oaks Community Primary School
At Liberty, we’re committed to making a difference in the communities we serve, not just through our core services, but by going the extra mile where it counts.
This February half-term (2025), our team rolled up their sleeves to support The Oaks Community Primary School in Ellesmere Port with vital improvement works, ensuring the school was in top condition for pupils returning after the break.
We were introduced to the project through our client, ForHousing, who manage homes in the area on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council (CW&C). The school had a range of essential jobs that needed attention, and Liberty was more than happy to donate time, expertise, and labour across two dedicated days to get the work done.
Transforming spaces for learning and play
Liberty’s skilled team took on a variety of tasks to enhance both indoor and outdoor spaces at The Oaks.:
- Redecorating room and fitting new fire doors, filling holes, removing old shelving, and clearing out unnecessary items.
- Improving the staff room with extended worktop space.
- Installing a soakaway around the pergola to eliminate slip hazards for children and laying play bark to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Installing fencing purchased by the school to separate the forest school area from the main playing field.
- Disposing of waste from the completed works as well as previous school-led projects.
- Assisting in laying a soft surface for the school’s new basketball pitch.
Community collaboration in action
James Page, Contract Manager at Liberty, expressed his pride in the team’s contribution on LinkedIn, stating: “Happy to be providing a social value service to the local school, The Oaks Primary. David Westing, the Headteacher, has been on site as well. Big thanks to the guys on site: Jim, Dan, Joe, Leo, and Lee.”
Janet Lawton, Head of HMC at ForHousing said: “Everything we do aims to positively impact the lives of social housing tenants and delivering on what matters to them and their communities is important to us. We’re proud to have been able to support these improvements and since 2021, we’ve been delivering community projects based on local needs, investing over £2m in neighbourhoods.”
Headteacher David Wearing also shared his appreciation, posting on the school’s Instagram page saying: “Thanks to the Liberty crew for all their hard work over the past few days making a difference at The Oaks Community Primary School.”

A team effort
Our work at The Oaks was further supported by West Cheshire Facilities Management, who ensured the safe removal of 20-25 tyres from an old play installation no longer needed by the school. Their contribution helped keep the school’s outdoor spaces clean, safe, and ready for new adventures.
At Liberty, we believe in building stronger communities, not just through our services but by lending a helping hand where it matters most. We’re proud to have played a role in improving The Oaks Community Primary School, and we look forward to continuing to support community projects that make a real difference.
